EPL Sets To Return After Crucial Meeting with the Protocols.

Premier League return to training protocols revealed ahead of crunch meeting. EPL players will be told to wear face masks or snoods at all times in training as one of many measures drawn up to allow squads to return to group training.

In documents obtained by Express Sport, the league has set out specific criteria to keep players and staff safe. The framework for Project Restart, the English top-flight's plan to resume the season in mid-June, was given the greenlight by the UK government on Wednesday it is understood.

The plans include players being gradually phased back into training at all 20 clubs' training grounds, with full contact squad training by the end of May. Fixtures would then return, behind closed doors and only at specific stadiums, in the second week of June. The Premier League will fund an extensive and regular testing programme to ensure players do not become infected with the covid -19 which has the lives of over 26,000 people in the UK .

With some clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham having already allowed players to begin working individually at their training grounds to keep them away from the public, the Premier League will discuss the following training protocols at a meeting on Friday. They want players to steadily begin working in small groups and then full squad sessions as normal in the coming weeks.

Before the return to normalcy, however, all players and staff will have to pass COVID-19 tests in the 48 hours preceding group training while all equipment must be disinfected after use, from footballs to heart rate monitors.

And a number of set rules have been drawn up by the Premier League's director of football Richard Garlick to look after those involved.
